The absolutely true diary of a part time Indian is a story about a boy named junior who is going through a few problems. Junior was living in Wellpinit and had a good friend named rowdy. Junior was getting bullied and he knew that he couldn’t have a good future if he stayed in the reservation so he decided to go to a school all with white people. Junior is presented as an outsider because he’s the only Indian in Reardan and this shows that he’s an outsider because in the beginning of the book when he went to Reardan people thought he was weird which makes him an outsider. These moments are all important because it shows the reader he’s and outsider. In my essay I am going to be talking about his loved ones who passed away, he’s poor, he’s the only Indian in Reardan, why his community in Wellpinit don’t like him, comparing him to white people and why he has more problems than white people.

In the second paragraph Junior describes how hes an outsider in the beginning of the book by saying “travelling between Reardan and wellpinit, between the little white town and the reservation, I always felt like stranger.” In this quote he’s suggesting that he’s an outsider by saying he felt like a stranger when he travels between Reardan and wellpinit. This is because no one in wellpinit likes him because they feel like he betrayed him and he feels like an outsider in Reardan because he was getting bullied and had no freinds.

Another quote which suggests that junior is an outsider is when he says ” I was half Indian and half white in the other.” Suggests that he has to be Indian in wellpinit but when he’s in Reardan he has to be white.
